Diagoras Football Club is the football Club of Neo Horio, Apokoronou, Crete, Greece.
The club does not have lots of money, and does not have a great history of results.
Our aim is to be the world's most famous village football club :-D

Cretan Evening in Detroit Michigan USA
On behalf of the Board of Diagoras Athletic Club Neo Horio, I would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to Mr. George Perakis and the other members of the board of the Cretan Club “Psiloritis” Michigan for their enthusiasm, commitment and financial support for our village athletic club.
Psiloritis Club organised a Cretan Evening in Detroit to raise funds for our club, so we can continue to play sport (football) in our village. The event was a tremendous success and the funds received have been used to pay for team kit (ie boots, shin pads, balls etc).
The following are extracts from Mr. Geroge Perakis’ emails on the event:
Dear Emmanouel,
The dinner/dance occurred on Saturday, December 4, 2010 and was attended by about one hundred people, most of them were Neohorianoi and our friends.
The performing musicians were from Crete: Giorgios Boyiatzis on lyra; Giorgios Mpoulakis on laouto and Ioannis Katakis. The entertainment was outstanding - everyone had a wonderful time. There was dancing and entertainment until 4:30 in the morning. The dinner menu included wild boar, beef and deer.
I would like to thank the following people (in no particular order) for their contributions to the event, without whom the event would not have been possible or such a success:
1. The co-chairman Dimitrios Matsamakis for his excellent work for the event,
2. Erasmia Novotny for the delicious loukoumathes,
3. Kostas Perakis donations of merchandise and help with the service,
4. Zaharias Georgiadis for his support,
5. Zaharias Ligerakis for help with the service,
6. Pantelis Markogiannakis for the donation of the beef, and special thanks for the time he took to come from Florida to cook for us. We received many compliments for his excellent food and appetizers,
7. Stavros Sfingakis, his wife Aspasia, and his cousin Aspasia, for coming from Chanea to make the pilafi for us and helping with the dinner process,
8. Helen Stavroulakis, Dena Perakis, and Eleni Georgiadis from Neohorio who were responsible for set up and decoration of the club.

I have subsequently also had the pleasure of listening to Giorgo Voyiatzi on 2 occasions in Chania, at Greco Café and Bar and Del Mar (previously Pentagono) and I can understand why Psiloritis Club had such a great time until 4:30 in the morning. The two clubs mentioned here also support our Club Members via the Member Card programme (please click into Kartamelous - Member Card on this website for more details of the Member Card programme).
In closing, thank you again, to our friends and fans in Michigan and the rest of the USA, for your support.
I hope to have some photos of the event to share with everyone in the near future.

Cretan Evening in Detroit – 4 December 2010
The Cretan Club “Psiloritis” is hosting a Cretan evening with Giorgos Voyiatzis on 4 December 2010 in support of Diagoras FC - Neo Chorio Apokoronou.

1η ΑΓΩΝΙΣΤΙΚΗ - ΔΙΑΓΟΡΑΣ - ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝ (0-0)
Η Ομαδάρα κέρδισε τον πρώτο πόντο του στήν Β κατηγορία, και είμαστε άτυχοι που δέν πήραμε τα τρία ...
Βρήκαμε τα δίχτια 2 φορές, αλλά ακυροθήκανε όφσαιντ ... και 2 άλλα σούτ που έσωσε εκπληκτικά ο τερματοφύλακας του Απόλλων.
Τα πρώτα 20 λεπτά ήταν του Απόλλων, και φαινόταν ότι θα είναι δύσκολα να κερδίσουμε πόντο. Αλλα μετά, βρήκαμε τον ρυθμό μας, και είμαστε καλοί στην επίθεση και στήν άμυνα .....
Το μόνο αρνητικό ειναι ότι πήραμε 6 κίτρινες κάρτες ( ο διαιτητής εύκολα έψαχνε την κάρτα απ' την τσέπη του) ... θα πρέπει να μάθουμε να έχουμε πειθαρχία μέσα στο παιχνίδι .....
Συγχαρητήρια σε όλους τους παίχτες ...
1st Round - DIAGORAS - APOLLON (0-0)
We gained our first point of the season, and we were unlucky not to leave the stadium with 3 points.
We found the nets twice, but they were both disallowed on dubious offside decisions. We also had 2 other great opportunities to score, but the Apollon goalkeeper saved the day with 2 brilliant saves ....
In the first 20 minutes it was all Apollon, with Diagoras defending continuously .. they came close to scoring twice, but with some luck, and committment, we kept the ball out of our goal ... After that, we settled into our own rhythm, and we pretty much set the pace and tone of the game ... We played well on attack and in defence, and were unlucky not to win the game ...
The only negative from the game was that we also took home 6 yellow cards for mostly lack of discipline on the field, and the fact that the referree was very quick to reach into his pockets for the yellow card ... we need to learn to control our tempers and our tongues on the field ....
Otherwise well done to the team for a good positive game ....

Τα Χανιώτικα Νεα 23 Οκτ 2010 - Κανένας προπονητής στήν Β Κατηγορία δεν μας ψήφισε ........ κι'ετσι καμμία ομάδα δεν μας υπολογίζει, είτε μας φοβάται ...... κάλο αυτό ..... η έκπληξη τους περιμένει .......

Haniotika Nea Newspaper - 23 Oct 2010 - A quick poll of all the Coaches in the B Category showed that Rodopou was the favourite to win the league, with Enosi, Amilla, El. Venizelos and Halis in with a chance .... we did not get one vote in the poll ..... Which means that none of the teams rate us, or even consider us a threat ..... That is gooood .... very gooood ..... a surprise awaits them :-)

ΑΠΟΤΕΛΕΣΜΑΤΑ - ΦΙΛΙΚΑ ΠΑΙΧΝΙΔΙΑ
1. Ι.Ν.Κ.Α. (ΝΕΡΟΚΟΥΡΟΥ) - ΔΙΑΓΟΡΑΣ (1P - 1)
Το πρώτο παιχνίδι ως μια καινούργια ομάδα - Αρκετούς καινούργιους παίχτες. Η ομάδα έδειξε το ταλέντο που έχει, αλλα ταυτόχρονα εδειξε οτι είμαστε απροπόνητοι και δεν είχαμε παίξει μαζί. Το αποτέλεσμα αρκετά καλό.
2. ΔΙΑΓΟΡΑΣ - ΔΑΦΝΗ (ΚΡΥΟΝΕΡΙΔΑ) (5-2)
Φάγαμε 2 γκολ γρήγορα στα πρώτα 15 λεπτά, υσηχάσαμε και παίξαμε καλη μπάλα τα τελευταία 20 λεπτά του πρώτου ημιχρώνου - βάλαμε 2 γκόλ.
Στο δεύτερο ημήχρονο πάλι χάσαμε το ελενχό μας και σε κανονικό παιχνίδι θα τρώγαμε 2-4 κόκκινες κάρτες .... Οταν ηρεμίσαμε και βάλαμε τις ενέργιες μας στο παιχνίδι βάλαμε αλλα 3 γκόλ .... Πρέπει να μάθουμε να παιζουμε μπάλα, και τιποτε αλλο .....
3. ΔΙΑΓΟΡΑΣ - ΑΣΠΙΔΑ (ΝΑΥΣΤΑΘΜΟΣ) (1-5)
Το αποτέλεσμα δεν δείχνει την πραγματικη εικόνα του παιχνιδιού. Παίξαμε αρκετά καλά, αλλα δεν είχαμε μερικούς καλούς παίχτες και δεν μπορούσαμε να κρατήσουμε την άμυνα καλά. Οι ομάδα θα πρεπει να βάλει μια στρατιγική σε περίπτωση που δεν θα μπορούν να παιξουν μερικοί απο τους καλούς παίχτες .....

RESULTS OF PRESEASON FRIENDLY MATCHES
1. I.N.K.A. - DIAGORAS (1-1)
The first game with several new players in the team. We played reasonably well for the first time together, but the lack of fitness and team cohesion showed. It was a good result considering the fact that INKA had started their preseason training a month before we had. There is lots of work ahead of us.
2. DIAGORAS - DAFNE (KRIONERIDA) (5-2)
We were punished two quick goals in the first 15 minutes because we were lethargic and disinterested in playing. After some internal bickering we asettled down and played good football for the last 20 minutes of the first half, and responded with 2 goals of our own. The second half started much the same as the first, but our bickering was aimed at the opposition ... in a proper game we would have been awarded 2-4 red cards ... unacceptable behaviour on our part. Once we settled down again and concentrated our energies on playing football we played well and landed 3 more goals into the back of our opponents net. We must get more disciplined, and focus our energies on playing football and nothing else. The positive message is that we can recover from 2 goals down, and win convincingly.
3. DIAGORAS - ASPIDA (NAVAL BASE) (1-5)
The result does not reflect the true essence of the game. We played a reasonable game, but some of our top players were not available to play, so we were unable to defend our goal adequately. It does however show our lack of depth in the team, and we will have to devise an appropriate game strategy for games where our good team members cannot play.

Τα παιδιά που πήραν την Ομαδάρα από την Γ' κατηγορία φέτος στην Β' Κατηγορία του χρόνου. Μετά από 7 χρόνια στην Γ' κατηγορία, ανεβαίνει ο Διαγόρας στην Β' Κατηγορία.
The players who took The Most Famous Village Soccer Team in the World into the B league for the 2010/2011 season. After 7 years "preparation" in the C league Diagoras Neo Horio is moving into the B league.
